Your menus are an integral part of any website. The smoother they are, the easier visitors will find the information they need, leaving a better impression of you as a school.
With Weduc Websites, you have 3 types of Menus;
- Main Menus / Top Menus
- In This Section / Quick Link Menus
- Footer Menus
All of these menu types are amended in the same place.
To edit your menus, access the CMS and go to Appearance > Menus on the left hand menu.
Note: If you need help logging in, please click here.
You will then see a drop down at the top of the screen.
From here, select the menu you wish to edit then press Select.
Your menus will work as follows;
Top Menu - This affects the main drop downs on your website
Footer Menu - This will affect any menus in your footer. If you do not have this option, please contact the Weduc Support Team.
In This Section - This are the menus that are usually named after pages on your site.
Some sites may also see a Mobile Main Menu. This will affect the mobile main menu, please do NOT rename this menu.
Adding a Page
To add a page, on the left you will see a list of all the pages on your website.
Click Search across the top.
Here, use the search field to find the page you wish to add by typing the name of the page.
The CMS will then search the system for any pages with that word either in the title or the content of the page.
Tick the box next to the page you wish to add.
Click Add to Menu
The page will then appear at the bottom of the main list. You can then simply drag it into place.
The menus system works on a hierarchy system. In the example below, About Us will appear on a drop down under Our School whilst Teachers will appear on another drop down beneath Meet the Staff.
Drag the pages into position as needed. Once finished, click Save Menu in the bottom right.
Removing a Page
To remove a page, simply first find the page you wish to remove in this menu.
Click the arrow next to it to expand.
Click Remove.
The page will then no longer appear in this menu.
Click Save Menu in the bottom right to save your changes.
Custom Links
You also have the ability to add in Custom Links to your menu. These are options that will appear in your menus like any other page, however, when clicked will take the visitor to a predefined web page on any website of your choosing.
To use this, click on Custom Links on the left.
First, add in the link for the webpage you wish to direct people to.
Next, add in what you wish to call this link. This text is what will appear in your menu.
Now select Add to Menu.
This will then appear at the bottom of your menu. Simply drag it into place.
Once finished, click Save Menu in the bottom right to save your changes.
